Visa Issuance

If you are entering the Republic of Korea from abroad to attend the 2022 Daejeon UCLG Congress, you will need a valid passport and a Korean visa issued by a Korean embassy or consulate for some countries. Please be sure to check the applicable information according to each participant's individual travel schedule and nationality before departure.

K-ETA (Korea Electronic Travel Authorization)

Citizens of countries that have signed a visa waiver agreement with the Republic of Korea (66 countries) and countries/regions
where visa-free entry is permitted (46 countries) can obtain travel permits online through the Korea Electronic Travel
Authorization (KOREA Electronic Travel Authorization.)

  • Currently, visa-free entry is possible for 109 countries from September 1, 2022 at 00:00 (Korean time).

Visa Application Process

  • Please contact the Korean diplomatic mission in your country of residence and submit the documents required for issuance of C-3-1 [General Visa (Conference, Competition,Training and etc)] or C-3-9 [Short-Term Tourism Visa].

Invitation Letter

  • If you need an invitation letter to be submitted to the Korean diplomatic mission abroad, please submit the [Apply for Invitation Letter] form on My Page after online pre-registration and payment of the registration fee.
  • Invitation letters for visa applications can be issued when the online participation application and payment of registration fee are confirmed.
  • If you need the invitation letter before completing the registration fee payment please contact the Registration Team by email.
  • Please note that the organizer cannot contact or intervene with any embassy or consulate on behalf of any participant.
  • If your visa application is rejected against your will, the registration fee will be refunded only when the [Notification on Visa Rejection] form and the [Registration Cancellation Application] form are received by the embassy or consulate and are completed and submitted to daejeon2022uclg@gmail.com by September 30, 2022

Receiving Invitation Letters

  • If you wish to receive the Invitation Letter by mail, be sure to enter the address where you will receive the invitation letter when submitting the request for an invitation letter.
  • International mail takes about 10 to 15 days from the date of application depending on the region.
  • Depending on the COVID-19 situation, some countries and regions may not be able to receive international mail.
  • Please refer to the mail arrival schedule when applying, and the Registration Team is not responsible for visa rejection due to a participant's negligence.

Entry to Korea

Testing on arrival and Q-Code

Effective September 3, 2022 (00:00 KST), a negative pre-departure PCR/RAT test result will no longer be required for incoming travelers to Korea regardless of nationality. However, travelers must register their travel information through the the Quarantine Information Advance Input System (Q-CODE) prior to arrival. They will also need to take a PCR test within one day after arrival and input the result in the Q-CODE system.
