‘Kkumdoli’, a little space fairy that highlighted the 1993 Daejeon Expo
Kkumdoli is the mascot of the 1993 Daejeon Expo that proposed peace for all mankind and a future vision of coexistence and co-prosperity through advancements in science & technology and industry as well as encouraged youth to have dreams and hopes. It was the first mascot from a developing country to be officially approved at the General Assembly of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).
The adorable and joyous baby space fairy was inspired by Dokkaebi that contradicts yet emphasizes the most advanced science & technology. A star antenna can cast spells just like a magic wand in a fairytale and communicate with all things in the universe, while an oval-shaped electron orbit and nucleus represent the future vision of science & technology.

Daejeon Roots of Filial Piety Festival is the only festival in Korea where one can see and feel the spirits of their ancestors, find their roots, and experience traditional filial duty
in the only Roots park built with the theme of people’s family names.
